Sofia DiMario, a determined and compassionate 22-year-old currently pursuing her Funeral Director internship at Windsor Chapel Funeral Home. Sofia harbours aspirations of becoming Canada’s most Glamorous Funeral Director and eventually owning and operating her own funeral home. Her driving force lies in her fervent desire to assist others during their most challenging times was inspired through the loss of her own father. Having endured personal experiences of grief and loss, allows Sofia to recognize the significance of Celebrating Life and upholding the ethical principles while providing families under her care with the utmost transparency and dignity. Sofia is representing The Hospice of Windsor Essex as her platform, with pride and dignity. Hospice is palliative care that provides comfort and dignity for the person living with a terminal illness as well as the best quality of life for both the person and their family. As a funeral director intern, Sofia sees the positive impact Hospice has on families in the community every day.

Prior to her pursuit to be a Funeral Director, Sofia trained as a professional gymnast for 11 years and competed nationally until 2020 when she experienced a career ending injury. The trajectory of Sofia’s athletic career inspired Sofia to go out of her comfort zone and enter the world of pageantry. Through pageantry, Sofia has cultivated supporting friendships and a profound connection to her community. Sofia’s commitment to community servitude is evident through her extensive involvement with various organizations. Sofia held her own humanitarian project and raised a total of $1,485 for SOS Children’s Villages Canada. Sofia challenged herself by competing in Miss Universe Canada Pageant 2024; where she placed as a Top 20 Finalist, the winner of People’s Choice, and placing Top 3 in the talent category. Sofia strives to be a beacon of inspiration for young women and imparts the mantra, “don’t let your fear of falling keep you from flying”, encouraging others to embrace the pursuit of their dreams no matter their journey and profession.
