Jillian Sara Brush is an 18-year-old student who is currently enrolled in her final year of Tourism and Travel at St. Clair College. Through her studies she has fallen in love with travelling, meeting new people, building new connections, learning new things and discovering more about herself. After college Jillian hopes to become a flight attendant as she wants to be someone who can take care of others and provide them comfort and safety during their travels.

During her early years, Jillian spent most of her time around family members who would love and appreciate her for every little thing she did. Jillian’s late grandmother, her role model, dedicated time caring for her as a kid, creating a safe environment where Jillian could express herself, discover new interests, and experience the joy of trying new things. At the age of 12, Jillian’s grandmother passed away from ALS, an untreatable neurodegenerative disease that affects more than 200 000 people across the globe. Jillian had witnessed the devastating effects of the disease firsthand and understood the amount of pain it had caused. Because of this Jillian wishes to spend her time supporting the ALS Society of Windsor-Essex County during their fundraising events, including the yearly ALS Windsor Walk as well as the Caboto Club Charity Pasta Night events. Jillian believes that supporting this charity can help bring families together, and help the ones with the disease feel loved, heard, and supported throughout their hardship. Regardless of who we are or what we have, Jillian believes that no one deserves to feel alone in their struggles.

As Miss Tecumseh, Jillian’s goal is to become an advocate for those who have ALS, raising awareness to the public of its effects on an individual’s mental and physical health, how it affects family members of someone who has ALS and how people can give their support by participating in fundraising events for medical research. Jillian believes that with a little bit of help, doctors can soon discover a remedy for the disease and lessen the effects of ALS in Windsor/Essex County.
