Livanessa Jaquez Bonilla
Livanessa Jaquez Bonilla is a 23-year-old born and raised in the beautiful Caribbean island the Dominican Republic. She is a current 4th-year student at the University of Windsor, completing her double major in disability studies and psychology.
Livanessa currently works at the Homelessness and Housing Help Hub (H4) providing assistance and resources to those who are experiencing homelessness in our community. After the completion of the 4 year program, she aspires to enroll into the Master of Social Work program. Livanessa’s career objective is to become a registered social worker to provide assistance to those individuals that struggle with mental health and engage more profoundly within our community.
As an immigrant, one passion that Livanessa encountered was the community involvement through the countless opportunities of volunteering throughout her highschool years for non-profit organizations such as Windsor Women Working with Immigrant Women (W5). Livanessa is also eagerly passionate about working with our homeless community as she has been exposed to this community through her previous volunteer opportunities and current workplace at H4. Due to the high rates of the homeless population in Windsor-Essex County and the need of mental health resources to support these individuals, one organization that Livanessa would love to work with and aspires to support is the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA). If chosen to be Miss Tecumseh 2023, Livanessa would like to utilize this platform to raise awareness about mental health and the need of community-based mental health services to further assist individuals experiencing homelessness who struggle with mental health. Also, she will engage more profoundly within the community by organizing fundraisers with all proceedings going to CMHA.
