Avery Blazevich
Avery Blazevich is a 19 year old who was raised in the admirable town of Tecumseh. Avery is a second year student at the University of Windsor studying Education and Visual Art. From a young age Avery always knew she wanted to become a teacher, after struggling academically. She believes it is the teachers in her life that taught her how to work hard to accomplish her goals today. Avery took on the role of being a volunteer at St. Joseph’s Catholic High School this year, as a teachers assistant to help in the classroom as well as tutor students who are falling behind. Avery knows the importance of having role models in her life and that is something she strives to be everyday for those who look up to her.
Avery is extremely passionate about making a difference in the community when it comes to helping students academically. Avery has realised that some students in the community face many challenges when it comes to getting academic support. One of Avery’s goals is to help make tutoring programs more available to those in need. It would be an honour for Avery to become Miss Tecumseh 2023 to help students in need by supporting the Windsor Essex United Way Foundation. This organization offers support programs for students which allows them to get on track to reach their academic goals. Helping individuals around her achieve their goals is something that inspires Avery to continue making an impact in the community.
Community is very important to Avery as she feels she would not be the person she is today without growing up in the town of Tecumseh. Avery has had many opportunities to lead in the community when it comes to volunteering for local organizations such as the; Terry Fox Committee, the Riverside Optimist Club and coaching local sports teams. It has been very rewarding for Avery knowing that she is contributing to making the community a better place while meeting new people and creating relationships along the way.
