Savannah Ewing
Savannah Ewing is a 23-year-old who was born in Windsor, Ontrio and grew up in Essex-County. She has received a Honours Bachelor of Arts in Drama in Education and is looking forward to teachers college in the Fall at the University of Windsor. Once she receives her Ontario teaching certification, she aspires to become a high school drama/English teacher. Additionally, she would like to one day open up her own theatre company, in hopes it will inspire young minds.Growing up, Savannah was in dancing residuals and plays that helped shape her into the person she is today. It wasn’t until grade 12 in Mrs. O’Neil’s class where she felt inspired to teach drama to children. Her teacher informed her of a program that would be perfect for what she wanted to pursue. So she set off on a grand adventure that would change her life forever. Theatre not only helped her come out of her shell but it taught her more about life through exploring different characters.
Throughout Savannah’s childhood, she was always into the arts. She danced from the ages of two to thirteen and participated in plays. Before theatre, Savannah was reluctant to be her full self. The theatre community allows for interactive play that helps with problem solving and inner confidence. Theatre became a judgment free zone where she could be whoever she wanted to be. As a little girl, you would always catch Savannah in her own imaginative world where she was a dancing queen one day and a superhero the next. Theatre has helped Savannah reach her full potential by expressing herself through the art of dance and acting.
Savannah has come a long way from starting University to becoming a teacher. The joy she receives from teaching is both rewarding and fulfilling. Being a role model to the children is a privilege that she will forever be grateful for. Having the chance to represent as Miss Tecumseh is an honour. Without the supportive people in her life, Savannah wouldn’t be standing where she is today.
