Avery Blazevich

Avery Blazevich is an 18-year-old who was raised in Tecumseh, Ontario. She is a recent graduate from St. Joseph’s Catholic High School and will be furthering her education at the University of Windsor in the Concurrent Visual Arts Program.

Avery’s aspirations for the future are to become a teacher upon graduation and to become more actively involved in the community. Avery is passionate about sports and believes that playing sports growing up has shaped the person she is today. Avery has taken part in the WECDSB Basketball Academy where she has developed many skills and had many volunteering opportunities. Avery took part in refereeing youth basketball games with the YMCA, coaching young kids with the Tecumseh Saints basketball club and volunteering with the Windsor Express. Avery is very inspired by the coaches she has had in her life to help encourage, lead and mentor the youth in our community.

One of Avery’s goals is to make a difference by advocating for children’s mental and physical health. She has struggled with mental health growing up and believes that playing sports and being active has helped her maintain her positive attitude. Avery believes that everyone should feel accepted and comfortable being themselves. She strives to be a positive role model to her younger siblings and a voice for anyone who struggles with mental health. Avery believes it is important to raise awareness for mental health. If Avery were chosen as Miss Tecumseh she would be partnering with the Kindred Foundation.

The Kindred foundation believes in inclusion and supports and organizes programs for children and young adults within the areas of cancer, physical and mental health. They provide programs and treatments to help provide children with the greatest future possible. Avery is very grateful to everyone who has supported her and encouraged her to participate in this amazing opportunity.
