Nicole Walus

Nicole Walus is a 22-year-old who enjoys adventures, being outdoors, being creative, and is always giving others all sorts of advice. She is currently a second-year student at the University of Windsor studying Child Psychology. She wishes to continue her studies in the field for her Ph.D. and Md. With her studies, Nicole wishes to work with children and help meet their needs and goals.

Nicole is passionate about always helping others. She is a person who tends to have someone comfortably seek her for advice or just have a conversation with her. Nicole always wants the best for others and their mental health. Mental health has always been a big part of Nicole’s life whether it is her own or someone close to her. She wishes to work with The Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) in the future to help end the negativity toward mental health topics and raise awareness. She also focuses on the Men’s mental health aspect since that is also an important topic in her life. She hopes that by using her voice and online platforms, speaking about her own experiences with mental health will show others that they are not alone and that it’s okay to speak about their mental health, no matter the gender. Nicole is someone who will gladly speak and or listen to anyone about mental health and its awareness. She is looking forward to attending different events for Mental Health and helping others feel comfortable with speaking out about the topic.

This year is Nicole’s second year participating in the Miss Tecumseh Pageant and is incredibly thankful for all that the pageant has granted her so far during both years. Even though the pageant was virtual her first year, she met amazing people whom she is still friends with to this day, she grew closer with some of the people she met now that the pageant is back in person, and she has felt great being more out of her comfort zone. To Nicole, pageantry is not just learning about and finding your own new strengths but helping others with strengths and reaching goals. You may have to fall a few times and just keep getting right back up to reach your goals. If granted the honour of representing the town, as Miss Tecumseh, Nicole will continue to give the best advice she can to others, be there to listen and comfort, inspire them to love themselves and be able to speak out about themselves with pride and not hold back from asking for help. Nicole will show that one’s confidence and pride come from within and how anyone can achieve anything when they set their minds to it. She will continue to make a difference in her community by being a role model for all those not only within her community but for those in other communities, not only now, but as Miss Tecumseh as well.
